Privacy Policy

What we collect

Nothing that identifies you, and nothing you have not deliberately sent us. Surgeonring is a static reference site. There is no account system, no login, no newsletter, no comment section and no tracking. We do not build a profile of you, and we have nothing to sell to anyone because we do not collect it in the first place.

What is stored on your device

One thing: your light or dark theme preference, saved in your browser's local storage under a single key so the site does not flash the wrong colours when you return. It never leaves your device, is not a cookie, is not sent to us or to anyone else, and contains nothing but the word “light” or “dark”. Clearing your browser's site data removes it.

Cookies

We set none. Not for analytics, not for advertising, not for preferences, not for anything. If that ever changes, this page will say so before it happens and you will be asked for consent where the law requires it.

Server logs

The site is served by a hosting provider, and like every web host it records standard technical information when a page is requested: the IP address making the request, the time, the page requested, and the browser's user agent string. These logs exist for security, abuse prevention and keeping the site running, are retained by the host for a limited period, and are not used by us to identify or profile visitors.

Fonts are downloaded at build time and served from this site's own domain, so displaying a page does not make a request to Google Fonts or any other third party. Loading a page on Surgeonring contacts Surgeonring and nothing else.

The contact form

The contact form does not send anything to a server. It assembles what you typed into a message and hands it to your own email program, which you then choose to send or discard. Nothing reaches us unless you press send in your own mail client.

If you do write to us, we hold your message and your email address in our mailbox for as long as it takes to deal with it and to keep a record of corrections. We use it to reply and for nothing else, and we do not add you to any list. To have your correspondence deleted, write to hello@surgeonring.com and ask.

Advertising and analytics

There are none at present. No advertising network, no analytics provider, no tag manager, no social media pixels, no embedded videos or third-party fonts. Nothing on any page contacts another company when you load it.

If advertising or analytics are introduced in future, this page will be updated before they go live, and it will name the provider, say what they collect and link to their own policy. Any consent mechanism the law requires will be in place at the same time.

Children

Surgeonring is written for a general and student audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, because we do not collect information at all.

Your rights

Where data protection law applies to you, including the UK and EU GDPR, you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to complain to your national data protection authority. In practice the only personal data we are ever likely to hold is an email you sent us.

Send any such request to hello@surgeonring.com and we will respond within one month.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. Material changes — particularly the introduction of advertising, analytics or any third-party script — will be described rather than quietly folded in.
